The Stop the Violence Walk: Put the Guns Down, Pick the Gloves Up is more than just a walk—it’s a movement. Hosted by 2nd Time Around Developmental Resources, Inc. in partnership with the Augusta Boxing Club, this event is dedicated to bringing awareness to gun violence while creating real opportunities for change in our community.
This walk is held in remembrance of lives lost to violence and in honor of families and communities that continue to be impacted. We stand together not only to mourn, but to take action.
Our goal is to redirect our youth from the streets to structured, positive outlets—like boxing, mentorship, and community support. Through this initiative, we aim to raise funds to sponsor youth boxing memberships, giving children and teens a safe space to build discipline, confidence, and purpose.
We believe that when young people are given guidance, support, and an outlet for their pain, they can transform their stories. Instead of picking up guns, we want them to pick up gloves—choosing strength, resilience, and a future filled with possibilities.
This event also brings together community partners, mentors, and organizations that provide resources in areas such as violence prevention, grief support, and youth development. It is a day of unity, healing, and empowerment.
